Your property tax is going to be about 1.1% of sale price of home regardless of the city, BUT with an exception. Some housing/condo developments have something called a Mello Roos tax district assessment, which means an additonal property tax that can double or tripple your property tax rate. Knowing only the city, without knowing if a particular residence is in a Mello Roos development district, will not help you to know your tax rate. This information has to be disclosed during home sales. A real estate agent will be your best source of information on what developments have Mello Roos districts and which don't.

i am looking in the same area and have seen about 4 places in the past couple weeks. i found the recycler and craigslist to be a good source to start if your looking for free listings. or sometimes just type san gabriel valley, california free rental listings into your browser and a few sites will pop up. you can also type los angeles ,california free rental listings...or just type apartments/housing for rent in san gabriel valley, california in the browser. hope this helps. _Harmony p. p.s. another thing i did was drive around some of the streets with apartments lined up on them in this economy almost every other complex has a place for rent. In alhambra you can try Chapel between mission and sierra madre or new ave. on the monterey park side of the 10 freeway and garfield starting at garvey all the way down to mission. and 6th street between valley and mission. GOOD LUCK!!!!
