i depends where you are ! in lancaster you dont give a starting point nor a destination and my crystall ball is on vacation , check with antelope valley transit they have several routes including commuter buses to Warner city, Century city and westwood and downtown LA metro.net might also help you they should have anetelope schedules in thier trip planner but since you didnt give a starting location nor a destination its kind of hard to help you there is also serice to bakerfield on Kern transit as well

Doe anyone live in the Lancaster, CA area and drive to Santa Fe Springs area for work?

My dad is a retired truck driver that spent the last 6 years of his working life stuck in this exact mess every other day. Lancaster is a "city" 60 miles out in the Mojave desert. During the summer temperatures can be over 100 degrees for weeks at a time, and in the winter it can snow 2 or 3 times during the season. Back in 2004, when he became disabled and could no longer work, this commute would take him just over 2 hours, and traffic in Lancaster became a nightmare as early as 5:30 am. Today it probably can be as long as 3 hours. The main problem is that there is basically only one road, Highway 14, between Lancaster and Los Angeles, and that highway keeps switching from 2 to 3 to 2 to 3 to 4 lanes creating a stupid, unnecessary bunch of bottle necks. If the Metrolink train does not take too much time to make this commute it will dramatically save your sanity.

Does the DMV in Lancaster, Ca make reasonable driving appointments?

Permits don't count, only a valid license from another state. If you have a valid license, a driving test is not required. However, with just a permit, you are applying as a new license holder. No, they generally don't make appts several days out.

the best place in my opinion is Schooners i think its at 15th west and K but im not sure its been like 2 years since i have been there, i lived in lancaster (unfortunately) for 6 months and that was the best for lancaster.
