"Rx" is the Latin abbreviation for "Prescription". The sign probably means that there is a Pharmacy located on that particular road. However, if it is "RX" , it probably means "Road Crossing".

It sounds as if that was one of the "Carney's" chain. There were additional train cars in Glendale and on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. There may have been other ones around Southern California, too. Their hot dogs were delicious! They also prided themselves on cutting fresh lettuce and slicing fresh tomatoes for their hotdogs and hamburgers on an hourly basis.

I've visited Claremont, and live in the Bay Area. I can't vouch for all of the details you mentioned (single zip code, one high school), but some of the pleasant older towns in the Bay Area are the following: - peninsula: Palo Alto (home of Stanford University) - Marin County: Mill Valley - east bay: Moraga (home of St. Mary's College), Orinda, Piedmont - south bay: Los Gatos These towns probably all have good public schools. They are all very expensive, however. Buying a house in these places is not affordable for most people. This list isn't complete. I'm less familiar with the peninsula, and there are many nice (and expensive!) towns there. Berkeley is a college town with neighborhoods that vary from beautiful (and very expensive) to somewhat run-down. It has some very nice shopping areas with a great variety of restaurants (and without big chain stores). Oakland has a bad reputation for crime and schools, but there are some nice older neighborhoods such as Rockridge and Montclair. The Oakland hills near Claremont Avenue are very nice too, although part of this neighborhood was destroyed by the 1991 fire, and the rebuilt version is not as quaint. (If you live in Oakland and have kids, however, you might be concerned about the quality of public schools.) -- edit You didn't say why you're moving to the Bay Area. If you already have a job here, your new location should obviously be chosen with your commute in mind. (Some people choose to maximize their commute in order to get better value in housing; but with the time spent in traffic and the increasing cost of gas, I'm not sure that's a good strategy.) If you live far from work, sometimes BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) can take you to work efficiently; but keep in mind that many BART parking lots fill up by 8 AM or even earlier, and the surrounding streets are often off-limit to all-day parkers.

You'll have to leave before 5 AM to miss the worst of it. After 6, it stays busy until 9 or 10.

I didn't see reviews of the nursery, but I found a good site for the care of a Bonsai.... "Caring for a bonsai tree requires more attention than the typical indoor or outdoor plant.
