So, what do you mean by canyon country?? There are canyons just outside of San Diego and L.A. There, it is not much different than the weather in the cities (perhaps as much as 10 degrees cooler). However, there are canyons in the Sierras where you will have snow in the winters, rain in the spring, and cool weather for the remainder of the year. I think you need to be more specific.

Is Canyon Country, CA a good place to raise a family?

I live in Canyon Country and can tell you it's an excellent place to raise kids. My husbad and I have lived in Glendale, Burbank and Quartz Hill and can honestly say that this is the best place for a family. We moved here because the schools are good and it's a beautiful city. My husband commutes two hours everyday to get to work and back but he says it's well worth it so our kids can live in a decent place. The only area around here I would stay away from is the Sierra Hwy. / Jakes Way area (lots of apartment buildings with lots of crime). If you are considering renting here, look up apartments in www.apartmentratings.com using zip code 91387. It will give you a good idea of the apartments around here. Personally, I would recomment the Oaks (Equity Residential) and the Colony. Stay away from Diamond Park, River Ranch and Park Sierra. If renting a house check out www.screm.com. Hope this helps some. Should I buy a mobile home (canyon coutry, CA)? How quickly do mobile homes depreciate in value?

If this was 3 years ago, everybody would have told you to purchase the mobile home, but now, just about every bank out there does not want to lend on mobile homes. If you do find somebody to give you a loan on a mobile home, most likely a year or two from now, they will not be able to. it will be almost impossible to get good financing especially if you don't own the land. maybe you can rent closer to your work, rather than getting a mobile home. Yes, the housing market is on a down trend, the house prices are dropping. one house may drop in value more than another house depending on the location and on the value it was at.

Where exactly is Canyon Country, CA? Is it near the O.C.?

My hometown is in Valencia CA, its about 5 minutes from Canyon country. It is north of Los Angeles off of the 5 fwy. You can exit the fwy on Mcbean and follow the pkwy to seco Canyon rd, it will take you to canyon country. It is a great place to live and work, you have the beach just an hour away, Magic Mountan is about 10 minutes away, and you can head north on the 5 fwy to Mammoth mountain for some skiing only about 4 hours away.
