I grew up in Cerritos which is right next to Artesia. Artesia consists of mostly drive-thru fast food rest. and Chinese/Indian/Korean restaurants. Cerritos isn't much better as it has mostly chain restaurants. However, in their Towne Center they have a place called Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill. Even though it's a chain, it's not too big yet and I heard the food is very good with great steaks. Check it out at woodranch.com. Hope that helps. It's all-you-can eat and the waiters bring the meat out to you on skewers. It also has a bar where they make these wonderful drinks that are similar to mojitos. Actually, there are no private beaches (as TM already said). But the closest one (and a nice one at that) is Seal Beach. Really nice. And if you go a bit further, you have Sunset Beach and Huntington Beaches. At Huntington Beach, you can have a bonfire, since they have fire pits.

Artesia is a general law city in southeast Los Angeles County, California, United States and is one of the county's Gateway Cities. It was incorporated on May 29, 1959. The population was 16,380 at the 2000 census. Artesia is surrounded on the west, south, and east sides by Cerritos, with Norwalk to the north. its a ways from Downton LA or Hollywood. Artesia is the home of the East West Ice Palace, an ice rink which is co-owned by Michelle Kwan. It was also the childhood home (1914 until 1931) of former First Lady Pat Nixon, though the house in which she grew up is now part of neighboring Cerritos. Although Artesia is best known for the "Little India" section of Pioneer Boulevard, there are also many Filipino, Mexican, Chinese, and Korean-owned stores and residences in the area, as well as Portuguese and other Caucasian-owned stores and residences its a working class city, I have several friends that are from European countries, Mexico, Cuba, and are Black, Brown, Yellow, and White, who all enjoy the fantastic finds while shopping in the spice shops and Indian shops along Pioneer Blvd. --- And, the concentration of Indian shops is within 4 or 5 city blocks along Pioneer. The rest of the city is like any other with a genuine mix of all kinds of people. It's a great place to live, and the city council and city manger are making great strides in improving the city. We have million dollar homes in Artesia, big name stores coming in, and in the past few years have really started to build some super-nice homes in the 400,000 to 800,000 price ranges. Denny's gives good training. I would just start walking and enter every restaurant and put in applications. You just go to the receptionist and ask for an application. Fill it out and return it to them. You may be able to fill it out there. Make sure you are dressed well and be clean: no shorts and tank tops!! Make sure you write a neatly as possible on the application. Some places may have applications on line. Experience isn't always necessary. If you can speak Spanish, make sure you let them know it.
